Smart Africa Signs a Strategic Partnership for Cybersecurity in Africa with Kaspersky.

In response to the rise of digital technologies and increasing cyber threats, Smart Africa and Kaspersky have signed a three-year memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cybersecurity across the African continent.
This strategic partnership is part of a broader effort to develop African expertise, encourage the inclusion of women in digital professions, and harmonize cybersecurity policies among Smart Africa’s member states.

This collaboration is based on three key pillars:

  1. Academia – The establishment of training programs to enhance the cybersecurity skills of African professionals.
  2. Security Operations – The creation of security operation centers to enable proactive monitoring and effective responses to cyber threats.
  3. Regulatory Frameworks – Close collaboration with African authorities to develop strong regulatory frameworks and enhance institutional cybersecurity capacities.

The agreement, signed between Lacina Koné, CEO of Smart Africa, and Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky, represents a pragmatic response to the challenges that lie ahead.

Through this initiative, Kaspersky and Smart Africa aim to support Africa’s digital transformation by ensuring a secure digital ecosystem for businesses, institutions, and citizens across the continent.
